Sierra Sigmone

Bio:

​

     This website showcases Sierra's art, architecture, interior design portfolio.

Sierra Sigmone was born in Cheverly, MD.  She is a graduate of the University of Maryland, and received a BA in Architecture, a BA in Studio Art, a Minor in Real Estate Development and a Minor in Sustainability Studies. She is currently seeking her Masters of Art in Interior Architecture and Design. Sierra took art classes at the MTC Art Studios, taught by Mrs. Mavis Turner, where she helped cultivate Sierra’s art and made her the artist she is today.In addition to the fine arts, Sierra enjoys interior design, photography, baking, and working with children.

 

     She also a plethora of experience in the professional art field, interior design field, rendering, arts and community outreach and as well as project management and business administration.  For interior design, my passions include but aren’t limited to interior architecture, decorating, and design; space organizing, planning, and functionality; creating visual spaces through the means of design; drafting, reading, and collaborating on plans, blueprints, and sketches; providing consultations for architectural, art, and design needs for clients, and 3D modeling in BIM, and visual art.  I also have diverse personal and professional experiences in all the above that make me a qualified candidate for this role and a potential key component of your team.      Interior and Program Design: I’ve been able to develop my skills in Interior and Program Design during my time serving as a Design Consultant as well as an Interior & Programming Designer | Project Assistant | Logistics Manager & Coordinator. I’ve had the opportunity to virtually meet with clients, discuss their design needs, and create a design stack and presentation by utilizing AutoCAD and my design skills to bring their space to life. I also had the opportunity to plan, measure, furnish, and design residential and commercial spaces using critical and design thinking, software, and my educational background.  I also produced out-of-the-box interior design solutions, while maintaining agile and responsible organization through sustained revenue growth by monitoring industry forecasts, honing budgets, and adjusting marketing strategies.  I also conducted high-impact research sourcing products, designing residential homes with said products using architectural knowledge and software, as well as creating spreadsheets of vendors and screening and vetting said vendors. Sometimes, I’d serve as a direct liaison between the CEO and external partners. While working onsite, I would take measurements for potential new products, develop floor plans, install furnishings (FF+E) and organizing accessories (OA), build furniture, manage deliveries and movers, peruse and purchase products at various stores and with various vendor, and obtain parking and moving permits.  rganization, and data entry; business planning, financial literacy, and project management and consultation; art, and interior architecture, and design as well as education and curriculum development.       Project Management and Business Administration: I’ve been able to exemplify my skills in Project Management and Business Administration by keeping stakeholders and other clients informed in internal and external communication efforts while serving as a contractor for See In Colors. I’ve overseen and managed day-to-day program operations at Simpli-Fli. While handling all external and internal communications strategies and processes, I also write briefs and conduct community outreach and social media monitoring and management. In addition, I’ve developed and implemented new procedures and policies in collaboration with executive partners to establish and achieve long-term business objectives, providing the company with solid and sustainable organizational leadership.

      Establishing, planning, and creation of small businesses: I’ve been able to develop these skills in while working at Mindset CS Studios, Obelisk Gallery, ANX Reality, See In Colors, as well as creating my own businesses.  I’ve had the opportunity to create position descriptions and requirements as well as vet, interview, and hire executive staff, HR, and other employees that were needed for that specific business for Mindset CS Studios.  I also had the pleasure of developing business plans that emphasized quarterly and yearly financial-based, client-based, or business-based goals, as well as creating programs and managing social media logistics by utilizing and becoming certified din Google Analytics with See in Colors.  Research, data organization, and data entry: I’ve been able to exemplify my skills here at Mindset CS Studios, Obelisk Gallery, ANX Reality, See In Colors, Simpli-Fli, and CEO and CFO of 3 businesses. At Simpli-Fli, I was tasked with researching vendors, other small businesses as well as third party vendors.  My job was to complete a market analysis of these various vendors and businesses by utilizing previous knowledge, researching the required qualifications for the specific job, and entering this data into an organized, well-kept, color-coded excel sheet.  I also oversaw research on FF&E items, creating proposals, signoffs, placing orders and monitoring tracking, delivery and quality assurance by utilizing my business admin, communication, organizational and excel skills.

      Business planning, financial literacy, and project management and consultation: I’ve been able to exercise my skills in here at Mindset CS Studios, Obelisk Gallery, ANX Reality, See In Colors, and CEO and CFO of 3 businesses. At Obelisk Gallery, I was tasked with grant research and application, social media management, upkeeping of taxes and receipts, as well as developing an organizational system to keep up with all financial records, patrons, stakeholders, and other clients. I’ve overseen and managed day-to-day program operations at Simpli-Fli, as well as created and successfully implemented new SOPs, data collection forms, and organizational tactics that greatly benefited the team and company. For my own businesses, I manage the day-to-day activities and spearhead all applications, partnerships, grant application and. Future business partnerships, opportunities, and activities.  In addition, I’ve developed and implemented new procedures and policies in collaboration with executive partners to establish and achieve long-term business objectives, providing the company with solid and sustainable organizational leadership while working at See  In Colors.  

 

      Some other experiences include: at MNCPPC working as a face painter and to create and teach S.T.E.A.M. programs to children;  See In Colors working as a marketing and project assistant;  Simpli-Fli as an interior designer and logistics coordinator; AmeriCorp, teaching art to kids through summer camp; helping to design and being the youngest of a three-person art team to create a mural on Route 1 for the Paint Branch Community; being mentored by international fashion designer KAZ; at Obelisk Gallery, being a marketing coordinator and lead artist assistant to international artist Maryanne Pollock. These experiences have led her to grow and hone her knowledge and skills.

During the life span of this business, there have been a total of 8 murals designed, proposed, and executed.

Closet America |  June 2023 – November 2023

Measuring, drawing, developing, and designing spaces for potential clients and their spaces (closets, pantries, garages, mudrooms, living spaces, and offices) in one-sit closings. By utilizing ClosetPro, helped clients to revitalize, repurpose, and rejuvenate their spaces through understanding their wants and needs, understanding their inventory and space, and designing to their complete satisfaction. Created and designed custom systems that depicted functional and organizational 3D renderings and walkthroughs of assemblies with full colors, accessories, and obstructions. Helped sales to increase by 40% company-wide.

Meeting with potential clients about their design needs for their “work-from-home offices.” By utilizing AutoCAD, helped clients to revitalize, repurpose, and rejuvenate their spaces through design and small cosmetic changes to their rooms/offices. Oversaw 6 client projects. Created spreads and stacks based off forms filled out by clients, notes during client consultations, and using “mini tours” of their spaces to sketch a brief floor plan.

Responsibilities included both hands on and virtual design, documenting measurements, installations, and producing out-of-the-box interior design solutions, maintaining an agile, responsible organization through sustained revenue growth by monitoring industry forecasts, honing budgets, and adjusting marketing strategies, and making several key recommendations that resulted in an improved product (and subsequently increased sales), while simultaneously overseeing five client projects. Muralist

College Park Arts Exchange – CPAE and the Committee for a Better Environment | September 2021-September 2021
Using artistic and architectural knowledge and skills to coordinate, design, and execute a sustainable mural that brought awareness to pollution in our storm drain. The mural, “Tiny Bubbles,” depicted a few Maryland-based aquatic-life that insisted on only having rain going down the storm drain. Mural was executed in the historical Lakeland Community on a storm drain. . For this mural, proposals, budgets, and invoices were documented, created, and submitted.

Practiced and prepared paintings for paint party demonstrations and led and instructed virtual parties of all ages with group of 10-30 people. Participated and contributed in client growth meetings and brainstorming sessions.

Muralist 

Mount Rainier Elementary School | August 2020 - February 2021
Participated, spearheaded, and executed in the beautification process of the school which focused on emphasizing art, health and wellness, as well as sustainability. Responsibilities included using artistic and architectural skills to draw, design, and draft to scale mural designs, graphically render designs, and measure, paint, and shade multiple mural designs. These murals included: “Foot Prints,” which were spray painted, self-designed footprint stencils leading to the school door from the sidewalk; “School Mascot,” which entailed their eagle mascot painted on their metal garage that was scraped of rust and primed; “School Pride Poles,” where poles were scraped and primed, painted in school colors, and decorated with various eagle feathers and M.R.E.S (for Mount Rainier Elementary School), and “Trash Mural,” which was a sustainable-based design that was hand drawn, digitally rendered, and printed ion their recycle and trash dumpsters. For all of these murals, proposals, budgets, and invoices were documented, created, and submitted. In total four murals were created and a total of two paintings are pending.

Assistant Muralist

David C Driskell Center – University of Maryland, College Park | August 2020 - February 2021
One of five students who assisted a staff member in the creation of a mural dedicated to the late artist David C. Driskell, that included themes based off his screen prints, paintings and his ability to intertwine the two. This mural paid homage to his unique talent and contribution to the art world.

Si’s Babysitting Services | June 2010 - March 2020
Responsibilities included monitoring and interacting with youth ages 2-12, assisting with homework, engaging in conversation and play time, cooking snd providing healthy meals, potty training toddlers, and maintained a clean and organized home upon parents return. Most clients were obtained through proven skill, care, and responsibility from engaging with their child through various jobs at daycare, aftercare and summer camp, or word of mouth. Maximum of ten kids babysat simultaneously.

Using knowledge of scale and floor plan drawings, designed and executed two drawn-to-scale mural layouts for 23’ x 80’ wall negotiated pricing, trained and obtained to operate a scissor and boom lift, budgeted and purchased required materials, created proposal and timeline documentation, produced multiple invoices and gave biweekly profession updates of completion times

Responsibilities included working as a cashier, sales specialist, bra specialist, and stock room staff. Maintained a healthy, clean, and organized show floor and dressing room. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated (Mar 2021 – Present)

Duties included aiding alongside peers and community members through Adopt-A-School and ZHOPE International Women of Color initiatives to ensure the improvement of children's education in low-income areas throughout the US and other African diasporic nations. In addition, participates in March For Babies projects to help alleviate prenatal and postnatal risk for low-income mothers.
